About Me (Blog #0)

Welcome to my Blog!! 😊

Hey gang! My name is Maggie, and I'm going to share some fun facts about me with y'all. I'm technically a sophomore at FSU, but this is my first year of college. My major is English Education, and I hope to one day teach English at a high school level and possibly move into an administrative role in a school system. I come here from Tampa, but I was born in Franklin Tennessee and I've been moving around my whole life. I have 3 siblings and a dog (her name is Thea and I'm pretty sure she's Satan's spawn but she's still a cutie though). I'm super excited to get to know you all better and learn the course material together!

I have a lot of experiences with different types of technology in the school since I moved states and school systems so often. I've been to both private and public school, and as a result I've used smart boards and macs as well as 10 year old computers in my computer labs. A lot of my teachers, especially in middle school and beyond, incorporated phone usage into learning activities. We would often use Kahoot as a study tool as well as Quizlet Live (or just Quizlet in general). I personally enjoyed these study tools as it made studying both collaborative and fun, and it helped me gage how well I actually knew the source material.

I hope to learn a lot about technology and the incorporation of technology into learning in this class. I have had some experiences with technology in the classroom that actually hindered my learning experience. In a freshman bio class, my teacher made us use iPads to take notes instead of pen and paper for a week, and my scores in that week significantly dropped. As a future teacher, I need to learn not to shy away from technology and to see it as an asset rather than a hinderance, and that is what I'd like to learn to do in this class.

  1. First of all I love your blog set up! Secondly, I can't believe your bio teacher made you use iPads, Technology is awesome and all, but your basic pen and paper gets the job done just fine.
