Blog Journal 10

I think that surveys are an extremely useful tool for teachers! I know that as a teacher, one of my number one priorities will be to form constructive relationships with my students and take their feedback into consideration. Having my students take a survey about their thoughts on my teaching methods would help me to refine my lesson plans to be the best for the students that I have. As an English teacher, I would also conduct surveys to see what books students would want to read, what questions they have about essay writing, and other topics pertinent to their english learning. Using surveys can create a method of conversation between students and teachers, and getting students' honest opinions using an anonymous format is a great way to target what to improve.

One of my favorite parts of looking through my peers' blogs was seeing the differing opinions on the subjects we had to write about! I loved getting the chance to see pictures of their PowerPoint Assignment layouts and comparing them to my own. It was cool to see how some people had different views of that applications we used in class and could point out pros and cons that I would've never noticed on my own! I personally really liked using Diigo, but Asia for example found it confusing. It was interesting to read her blog on that extension and see her problems with it compared to the things I thought were great about it. Reading the blogs feels like another form of educational social media usage, and it's a really cool way to see different perspectives!

I would really like to learn how to further improve my PowerPoint skills. After making the Assignment 5 PowerPoint, I realized how cool PowerPoint is and how many interesting ways it can be used in the classroom! I would have never thought to make an interactive game/quiz through PowerPoint, but I did and I'm very proud of how it turned out! Now, I want to start looking on YouTube and other resources to see what else I can do with PowerPoint to make my presentations as compelling and engaging as possible! I want to master PowerPoint so that I am equipped to make my classroom fun and interesting with the use of technology!
